Canadian Wilderness Fly-in Fishing and Hunting Trips

June 14

Very wet up here! It rained up here for almost 24 hours straight so the camp is a muddy mess. Also the portage lake trails are muddy and slippery. Bear Trap portage is almost impassable due to the water. More rain on the way, off and on for the next 7 days. It’s been coolContinue Reading

June 14

The fishing in the last 6 days has been very good to awesome at times. The trout are really starting to pile in at spots so the jigging is getting to be excellent. Bruce and David Turner have found the trout trolling and jigging. Today was very windy, rainy and cold so as the restContinue Reading

Mosquito Hell

Unfortunately I’ve never seen the Mosquitos as bad as they are this year. It is making going to a portage lake almost unbearable. Something has happened to make the perfect storm for mosquito hatching. On the good news the last storm just missed us to the south and dumped huge amounts of rain that IContinue Reading

Our first guests of the year left yesterday and they all did very good. The frank Hansen group had the best fishing of all the 6 years they have come up, with Ralph Oestmann taking a big 32″ laker right by camp in the evening. Iwas sad to see Frank leave since it was theContinue Reading

First fish report 2014

Water is extremely cold due to late ice out. That means trout can be found anywhere in the water column, walleye are just starting to spawn and northern are very lethargic. We’ve done very little fishing but Eric has been catching trout out in front of camp on small crank baits. Can even get troutContinue Reading

Atikwalakelodge is open for 2014

Ice went out even later than last year so a very late start to the 2014 season. Water is very cold and extremely high. Bring rubber boots since our boat house has flooded and you will be up to your ankles at least. We barely got the camp ready in time for our guests todayContinue Reading
