Hot and Humid

Our first guests of the year left yesterday and they all did very good. The frank Hansen group had the best fishing of all the 6 years they have come up, with Ralph Oestmann taking a big 32″ laker right by camp in the evening. Iwas sad to see Frank leave since it was theContinue Reading

First fish report 2014

Water is extremely cold due to late ice out. That means trout can be found anywhere in the water column, walleye are just starting to spawn and northern are very lethargic. We’ve done very little fishing but Eric has been catching trout out in front of camp on small crank baits. Can even get troutContinue Reading

Weather has been the hottest of the year with water temps in the 80s. Very hot and humid so kind of miserable in the boat. Walleye are biting great on the portage lakes and the trout are hitting trolling as long as you get down deep. Nick Grota caught a 27″ fat trout in BaldyContinue Reading

North end bays, musky bay, and Horseshoe has been producing. Northerns are finally hitting onContinue Reading

Perfect weather has been around for weeks. Sunny, wind to keep the bugs down, and 70 degrees. Nice! Water temp is warming up into the low 60s now. Fish are still shallow with trout being able to be in any depth yet but jigging is getting large catches over 40 feet of water. The DanContinue Reading

COLD water fishing

The fishing season started very late with the ice going out mid to late may. That means the trout started out scattered everywhere due to the cold water temps. Jigging was poor because the concentrations of trout were not there but trolling was working well with orange and gold spoons, diver vibes and small cranks.Continue Reading

More to come

We will be adding fishing reports throughout the season to let you know how the season is going. Even without being there I can to you with a fair amount of confidence that this spring the trout will be jumping in the boat in May and early June. I would expect something similar to theContinue Reading
