Canadian Wilderness Fly-in Fishing and Hunting Trips

June 14

The fishing in the last 6 days has been very good to awesome at times. The trout are really starting to pile in at spots so the jigging is getting to be excellent. Bruce and David Turner have found the trout trolling and jigging. Today was very windy, rainy and cold so as the rest of camp stayed in the lodge by the fire they went in front of camp and killed the lakers. Many times they couldn’t get the lure down to the bottom. I guided Dave and Marv from Texas and California a few days ago. We caught a mixed bag of walleye, trout and northern but nothing spectacular. They have come for several years and last year Dave caught the biggest laker of the year.  This year they caught plenty fish but no real trophies. On their last night fishing tonight Dave had a northern take lure, leader and all. Eric in his group had a musky do the same thing a few days ago so just some bad luck. The Futrell group from Wisconsin and Georgia have been catching lots of fish in all their old spots. They always have a contest and I think Kim is in the lead but jeff, mike, and Kevin still have a day to catch him. Rodger of course doesn’t have a chance. Hopefully this fishing lasts awhile yet and the big cold fronts coming thru doesn’t turn the fish off for awhile.
