We had a full camp this last week with mostly regular guests that have come year after year. The Craig Siverhus family came up again and did real well. They try everything every year, going to portage lakes and exploring around. The kids found some gold in the gravel from the gold mine we use so they were thrilled. They also found the jump rock so they may never fish again. Jim the grampa spent the week reading the book that was wrote by the builder of Atikwa lake lodge in 1951 and he enjoyed exploring the old portage Bob Johnson used and the gold mine. I enjoyed spending an afternoon with them at the mine. It's rare I find people with a passion for the outdoors like I have, but they do. The kids had a huge northern up to the boat but it wouldn't fit in the net 2 days ago. We all would have really loved to see a picture of that one. The John Owen group was up and he caught his usual big catches of trout and northern. He brought some friends along this year who got to enjoy the Canadian wilderness for the first time. They caught a lot of fish, the weather was nice and it was hard to get John to quit fishing. The Owens and the Siverhus family are regular guests that have become friends like so many have so we were sad to see them all leave today. Roy Rosbacka came for the weekend and trolled constantly and went home with his limit of everything. Roy has been coming twice a year for 30+ years and he'll be back in September. So far the weather has been pretty good, the bugs are bad but the fishing has been real good for weeks now. As I look out my office window the lake is like glass, loons are hollering and the sun is going down. It's hard to believe this is my job.
