Fishing has been excellent! Stable weather for most of the season so far seems to be really affecting the fishing in a great way. Usually june is full of storms and weather changes. Not so in 2011.
Scott Corwin and his Dad and daughter Trinity came up again and did great on northern and trout. Took alot of fish home and caught many pike from 30"-38". Trinity, a 6th grader outfished most men in camp and was a ray of sunshine in camp.
The water temp is warming up to around 70 in the bays now and the pike fishing has really improved. Some over 4o" are finally showing up. Walleye are hitting hard in the portage lakes for the people who know what they're doing and we've been getting quite a few on the main lake in Tail and Black bays. Trout are going a little deeper but still getting huge catches jigging in many different locations with diver vibes and sonars. Also still getting trout trolling close to the surface every once in awhile.
Pike have been hitting best on #5 Mepps spinners in white and red, and Black Fury. Trout on diver vibes in any color and bright colored cranks. Walleye on 1/8 oz. white and orange twister tails. Weather is supposed to getwarmer but still fairly nice.
