The lake trout have really been hitting for weeks now. The big catches have been jigging diver vibe minnows or 1/4 oz. jigs with white twister tails. Trolling has been slower unless you have something to get your lure down at least 20'. Trout have been being caught in 30'-40' suspended over deeper water. Ed Boron caught over 450 trout by himself in 6 days. Not normal but he's been coming for a few years and really has gotten used to laker fishing. Most of the fish were caught within 1/4 mile of camp. Walleye fishing in the portage lakes has slowed down but the northern fishing is picking up. we've had lots of rain and the water rose about 3' lately and it's still cold and rainy. Bring boots since the camp and portage lakes are very wet. The Dan Schantz group got a 35" monster trout a few days ago and did real well in waterfall lake portage. Dave Kennedy group from Texas did real well on trout and got a few very nice northern also. Dan Dougherty and the Porters did the best they ever did last week. They limited out on everything to take home. Dean and Mary finally started jigging for trout and did great and caught a bunch of main lake walleyes too. Dan did real good on atikwa walleyes and caught alot of everything. Weather is supposed to get better next week and we need it not to rain anytime soon. Keep checking for more reports
