The first groups of the year have come and gone, Terry Holloways group caught almost 300 trout in 4 days. It was nice to have them back as our first guests again. They always do great with the ice out trout. Ed Clark party and the neil Wasserman group from Colorado also caught a ton of trout. Northern were slow due to the cold water temp. but picked up plenty to keep everyone busy. Paul and Ian Kirkegaard from Minneapolis left today and it was their first time up. 2 of the nicest guys we've met in a long time. They learned how to jig trout and Paul got a 30 incher right in front of camp the last evening. They had a little trouble with fog the first day and ended up lost down on the south end. They made it back and Im sure Ian will never forget it. Several new groups came in today so should have some more news soon. Trout are stacked up by the beach across from camp. Northern are in transition but just started to hit better and the water temp is still in the 50's and trout can be caught right near the top. I caught 3 trout in 20 minutes trolling an original rapala #18 6' down as I went to the north end to do some work. Crooked lake has been doing great for walleye shallow and we got some nice ones in Tail bay on the main lake.
