2010 is over up at Atikwa lake lodge. We closed up a couple weeks ago and everything went well. As we left it's always bittersweet as we look forward to finally getting home and back to a normal life but hard to leave the incredible beauty of our wilderness lake. The season went great in that everybody was safe with only a few hooks in people and one heart attack that I can kid about now since Frank ended up OK. It ended up being a Blessing since he was warned before something worse happened. Terry Holloway learned he could still canoe 8 miles and can brag about what great shape he's in. The water was too high for most of the season and the water temp. was very hi but I've noticed weather rarely does what you want. The fishing was awesome for a good part of the season, not so great when the weather systems would come thru and alot of really good fishing in between. The walleye fishing was unreal for a majority of the season and every year it's been getting better and better. The lake trout like usual was out of this world all year long and keeps us believing our lake is by far the areas TOP lake for trout. Our northern fishing was down a bit due to the warm water temps. A 46" monster was our biggest but numbers were down slightly. Our portage lakes did great but we have a hard time getting people to go. Dozens of walleye over 23" were caught and only a handful of people went musky fishing but several fish over 40" were boated with the biggest being 47". All in all a excellent year and hope next year will be even better. Book early for 2011 to make sure you get the dates you want. If you want to bear hunt you better book NOW because we're going to book up immediately for our one of a kind hunt. It's whoever gets their deposits in first. THANK YOU to everyone who came this year, we loved seeing our old friends and made some great new ones that couldn't wait to book again for '11.
